CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration
In two years, blogging in Cebu has ripened from just being a mere online diary to something that takes an active role in civic and social awareness.
One of the factors that contributed to this positive development in the blogging scene in Cebu is the creation of a local blogging community.
The Cebu Bloggers Society was founded on February 14, 2008, with the main goal of uniting Cebu-based bloggers into a well-bonded community. And indeed, after its creation, individuals with diverse backgrounds but with a common interest, which is to promote Cebu and advocate blogging as a key tool for progress, converged together to establish Cebu’s first and largest blogging community.
The Cebu Bloggers Society has really grown and evolved quite significantly. From its humble beginnings, the group presently has at least 80 members and still counting. And now, the group is already anticipating its 2nd founding anniversary! Dubbed as "CBS @ 2: The Cebu Bloggers Society 2nd Anniversary Celebration", the event is envisioned to further strengthen the bond of friendship and camaraderie within the blogging community.
The anniversary celebration will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2010, 5-9PM, at SM City Cebu Foodcourt – SM Storyland Celebration Hall.
This big and important event won’t be possible without the help and assistance of the following:
Meanwhile, one of the highlights of the celebration is a muse and escort competition. The Cebu Bloggers Society has been divided into 4 groups and we are proud to present the beautiful and charming representatives from each team:

How to vote in the 2010 Philippine automated elections
With the use of the Precint Count Optical Scanner (PCOS), the upcoming 2010 Philippine elections would be far more different than the previous elections. Afraid of the new technology? You need not to be a techie to learn about it. It's just so simple.
With the PCOS demo and forum organized by PoliticalArena.Com together with the COMELEC and Smartmatic for the members of the Cebu Bloggers Society, we were informed on how the voting process will be in the upcoming elections. What's automated is not the voting; it's the counting, physical transmission and canvassing that will be automated.
Here are important points that you should know:
You can watch the TVC below about the automated elections:

What's automated is not the voting; it's the counting, physical transmission and canvassing that will be automated.
Here are important points that you should know:
- Prepare a 'kodigo' of your candidates - This has been a note since the previous elections, but having a 'kodigo' or list of your candidates in a piece of paper would expedite your voting time as you would only refer to the name of your candidate, instead of searching throughout the ballot which takes a lot of time.
- Shade and make it more than 50% - When you want to vote for a candidate, shade the oval beside the candidate's name. Remember to shade the oval, not check, not X. And be sure that more than 50% of the oval is shaded, or else, the machine will not recognize it and your vote will not be counted.
- OK to under-vote but don't over-vote - This is very important. Read the instructions always. If the position that you will be voting only requires 1 candidate to be voted upon, vote only 1, period. For the senators, only 12 is required. But if you only like to vote for 3 candidates, that's OK as long as you won't vote for 13 candidates.
- Marking pens to be provided by COMELEC - No need to bring a ballpen or pencil. COMELEC will already be proving marking pens to be used for your ballot. Don't forget to return it to the BEI.

45 random thoughts on my Sinulog 2010 experience
Whew! I was able to experience once again the Philippine's grandest festival, Sinulog, now on its 30th year. As a Cebuano, it's something that I'm proud of. The strong faith combined the joyful atmosphere of the people, despite the tug-of-war of the weather didn't stop them from participating in the festival. Instead of blogging detail-by-detail on what I experienced yesterday, I'm listing my random thoughts on this. Short and simple.
- Complete backpack with water, cap, extra shirt and towel (Dora the Explorer is far off better than me doing this one).
- Jeepney shortage and if there's one, it's full.
- Disembarked from the jeepney in Gaisano Capital South and walked through E Mall.
- Got super stuck walking just from ACT Mall to DBP.
- When you get stuck in the crowd, you just need to go with the flow or else.
- Didn't care of who touched my back in the crowd.
- My shoes got stepped on several times in the crowd.
- Common shoutout during crowded moments "Hinay lang kay nay bata (Just slow down because there's a child)."
- The cordon was quite lax but still, I was able to ask permission to cross the street.
- Kept on holding my pocket to be sure that no one other than me can hold it.
- Some people are just insensitive in the crowd even if it goes into a stampede.
- The crowd flow gets into a halt when they hear or see something making you stand in the very super too much compressed situation for a lot of time.
- Fans and caps/visors are just a commodity during events like this.
- Lovebirds almost all around in the area.
- The weather was quite tricky as early morning was wet, morning to early afternoon was hot, late afternoon was wet again and evening was stable.
- The roads were just full of people and of garbage too.
- Some yellow railings went down.
- There are those idiot ice cream-selling people with a familiar music positioning on the center of the road and insensitive to the flow of the crowd and transportation.
- Drinking people on the streets plus dancing people too.
- The floats were just amazing hoping that every year, it gets better.
- Met with my Cebu Bloggers Society pipz in Acha Pizzeria for the 88DB.Com booth.
- Saw Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza walking like an ordinary citizen.
- Saw also Will Devaughn with Byron Garcia.
- CIT friends Kim, Rahima, Artemio, Joshua, Winston & Israel were there.
- Sheesh! Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has a lot of energy in dancing even if it rains.
- Heard a person in the crowd that Glenn Soco looks like Paul Jake of PBB Double Up.
- My shoes gets dirty again, Part II.
- Wow! Robinsons is still on aircon but it feels like I'm inside the oven and the people inside are as usual sitting on the corners.
- Emergency teams goes back and forth and having a hard time appealing to the crowd to disperse to give way for the patient.
- Food and water prices dramatically went down and sellers are even persuading to the max the customers.
- Barbecue grills almost all in the corners and also food stands.
- Lot of foreigners too!
- People can't stop camwhoring but you just can't blame it.
- Braved the rain by walking from Gorordo Avenue to Fuente Osmeña.
- Woot! I was surprised to see Cosplay pipz during the Sinulog.
- Sinulog music was very prevalent during that day.
- Reminisced the moment when I was also part of the Sinulog dancing participants who danced through the long route for the crowd and in the Cebu City Sports Complex (I can never forget that experience).
- Asked myself on the possibility of a bomb threat would happened, even if it was just a joke.
- Can't help but mix with the crowd when there's a celebrity.
- Fuente Osmeña was full of people camping, eating and just sitting around.
- Met with my high school buddies Judy Alden, Jul Danreb, Pamela, James Dien, Gioann, Pamela, Micah, Ivy Ross, Angelica and Jessiel to watch the late but worth it Ayala Center Cebu fireworks display.
- Saw my college pipz Jandale, Xiao Xiao, Chang, Amabelle, Juli Flor, Loila Lyn, Rene Jay, Lanilen, John Henry and Jellyve.
- My knees and my feet were in the state of deterioration after walking several kilometers and somewhat doing our own version of the death march.
- Got home around 1 AM.
- Told myself to attend Sinulog 2011 too.

Mar Roxas - Bayan bago ang sarili
My idol, my best friend, my Vice President and my future President. You know this person. The sacrifice that he made can't be ignored. He puts the country before self. He is Mar Roxas.

As he released his latest TV Ad, I just can't help but be proud of him, as I have been since I started blogging in support for him since July 29, 2007. Yes, the Padyak TV Ad might have earned him the flak, but this one resonates the essence on who Mar Roxas is. I hope to see more Mar Roxas TV Ads like this.

I definitely voting for him and Noynoy Aquino this 2010 (not those tandem that are a combination of the "as if" poor and political butterfly or those who claim to be the transformers or those who are with a criminal or those who are just more of the same). Probably, 2010 is not for Mar Roxas and the one above has greater plans for him. Hopefully, that's 2016, after the Noynoy Aquino Presidency.
Below is the Mar Roxas' latest TV Ad entitled "Sacrifice", unscripted, straight to the point, no jingles. Share it to your friends! Oras Na! Noynoy-Mar Na!

Where I'm from, everyone's a hero
This is the famous quote of Mark Gosingtian in his Tumblr page and has been a viral testament to each and every Filipino. Indeed, it resonates in us. As Juan Country honors the hero within the Filipino race, I myself want to share to you on how I plan to become a hero for my country, our country, in 2010.

- Vote for the right stewards of this country and protect that vote - This year, after 9 years of suffering from a corrupt, both in money and moral, government, we are once again given the golden opportunity to choose the leaders that best deserves to steer this country on where it should be. Finally, after a long wait, I am already a registered voter and I'm doing not just my right to vote, but my obligation for a better Philippines. Voting will not be enough though. We need to protect it. No matter who wins, as long as we know that all those votes are valid and genuine, it's the essence of democracy. Yes, I am the start but if other will not do their part, that start would be meaningless. My vote, your vote and our votes must be counted.
- Dispose my garbage properly - I am a cluttered and disorganized person. I have already saw its effects on me and I intend to put an end to it. By starting with myself on disposing my garbage properly, recycle those that can still be used and proper segregation, I can be able to help others with proper garbage disposal. It's something that we must do, or else, I will haunt us back. Remember the floods?
- Share my knowledge to others - This year, I will continue to share my knowledge not only to my friends, but also to others who want to be informed. By sharing what I have learned, I can be able to spread it around others who will in turn spread it on others too, thus creating a ripple effect.

Here's the complete list, with the corresponding rating, of the Top 10 Best Cebu Blogs of 2009:
Thanks to Mark Monta, the Cebu Bloggers Society President, who organized this awards, to bloggers Jehzeel Laurente, Nancy Cudis and Ariel Lalisan for being the judges and to all the sponsors.
